GP Partners

  • DR PETER WILLIAMS

    Male

    MB BS MRCGP(2001) DFFP CertCLAM

    Dr Williams works seven sessions a week, Monday through Thursday, across both practices. "In practice, my clinical interests include musculoskeletal medicine—focusing on joints and muscles—minor operations, and providing broad, comprehensive care. I am also actively involved in medico-politics and currently serve as Chairman of the Derbyshire Local Medical Committee."

  • DR HANNAH WILLIS

    Female

    Dr Willis works across Bakewell and Tideswell surgeries on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. "I completed my medical degree at the University of Manchester in 2013, followed by postgraduate training in general surgery, orthopaedics, and urology before transitioning into general practice. Originally from Bakewell, I have since returned to the area with my family. My clinical interests include safeguarding and joint injections. I also hold additional qualifications in medical leadership and breastfeeding education, and I am currently training to become a GP trainer."

  • DR HANNAH NEWTON

    Female

    Dr Newton works across the Bakewell and Tideswell surgeries on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. After qualifying from Liverpool University, Dr Newton worked in A&E before returning to the Peak District to be closer to family and complete GP training. GP exams were completed under the guidance of the team at Peak and Dales, where Dr Newton has remained ever since. Clinical interests include mental health, women’s health, and safeguarding lead for adults and the learning disabilities lead.

Practice Director

  • KERRY MARTIN

    Kerry is responsible for the overall management of the Practice, including finances, strategic planning, and development. She oversees the building and systems, as well as the organisation and management of Practice staff and their training. Kerry also handles any escalated patient concerns or complaints, and manages external communications both within the wider NHS and with organisations outside the Health Service.

    "I studied medicine in Sheffield, graduating in 1994. After working in a variety of hospitals, mainly in A&E departments, and training to teach, I started GP training in Winchester in 2000, qualifying in 2003. I enjoy walking, badminton and music and am also involved in a local church. I worked in the High Peak for 7 years before joining Bakewell Medical Centre in 2012. My interests include GP support and education, minor surgery and anticoagulation."

    Dr Wesam Farah is one of our GPs, working across both sites on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

  • DR ESTHER ADENEY

    Qualifications: MBBS Newcastle Upon Tyne, Masters of Medical Research (cancer) Newcastle Upon Tyne, MRCGP, Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. I have a wide range of interests including diabetes and endocrinology, end of life and cancer care, sepsis and infection, and women's health. I perform joint injections and am undergoing my training in coil fitting. I am particularly interested in health promotion and prevention through lifestyle and exercise.

    Dr Pinninty is one of our GPs who is based at Tideswell Surgery.

GP Trainees/Registrars

As a training practice we have GP Registrars/Trainees with us (normally two or three at any time). They are qualified Doctors carrying out specialist GP Training (as opposed to Hospital Doctor training) which is a three year programme. All registrars, foundation doctors and students are supervised by a qualified GP. They are also allocated to a dedicated trainer We are proud to be a training practice and to invest in the future of GP’s for the future. We also have Medical Students with us from time to time from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Imperial College London and Kings College London.

    Holly is our Quality and Secretarial Manager and is responsible for managing referrals across both sites. She is the primary point of contact for referrals to other services, helping to ensure these are processed efficiently and appropriately. Holly also takes minutes during meetings and is our lead for private work at the surgery.

    Julia is one of our Care Navigators and works across both sites. She also provides support to our secretarial team and is responsible for coding clinical documents, helping to ensure patient information is accurately recorded and processed.

    Sara Jane is our experienced Diabetes Specialist Nurse and works across both sites. She also provides cover for our late-night clinic on Tuesday evenings at Bakewell. In addition to her specialist diabetes role, Sara Jane is our Lead Nurse, supporting the nursing team and helping to ensure we provide high quality patient care.

    Julie is our Practice Nurse who works across both sites. She provides a wide range of services including immunisations, vaccinations, wound care, chronic disease reviews, and cervical smear tests.

Nurse Associate

  • KIMBERLEY SELLORS

    Kim is our Nurse Associate who works across both sites, supported by the Primary Care Network. She performs phlebotomy, ECGs, INR checks, and administers some injections and vaccinations. Kim is expanding her role to include more in-depth chronic disease reviews and is currently developing skills to take smears and administer childhood vaccinations.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

  • LUCY GAMWELL

    Female

    Lucy is our Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in addition to her nursing degree and is also an independent prescriber. Lucy holds a Master of Science in Advanced Clinical Practice and a Bachelor of Science in Adult Nursing. She is the lead for Care Homes and Infection Prevention and Control and has also completed a Level 7 qualification in Foundations in Specialist Mental Health.

Healthcare Assistants

    Emma is a long-standing member of Bakewell Surgery and works as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) based in Bakewell. She undertakes phlebotomy, chronic disease reviews, INR checks, blood pressure monitoring, and administers certain injections and vaccines.

    Nicky works as a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) based in Tideswell. She undertakes phlebotomy, chronic disease reviews, INR checks, blood pressure monitoring, and administers certain injections and vaccines.

Nurse Prescriber

    Vici is our Nurse Prescriber and has completed advanced training in the assessment and treatment of minor illnesses. She is qualified to prescribe medication and is also our Practice Lead for Infection Prevention and Control, supporting the practice in maintaining high standards of safety and infection control.

Physician Associate

    Lucy is our Physician Associate and works closely with our GPs and wider clinical team. She is trained to take medical histories, perform physical examinations and assess patients symptoms, working under the supervision of a doctor to provide high quality patient care.

Care Coordinator

    Jackie is our Care Coordinator, providing support to patients, particularly those with more complex or ongoing health needs. She helps to coordinate their care, liaise with relevant services, and ensure patients receive the appropriate support to meet their individual needs.

Reception Manager

    Courteney is our Reception Manager and supports the wider reception team. She is our lead for complaints, helping to ensure concerns are handled appropriately and effectively. Courteney also manages the GP rotas, coordinating the GP team across the practice.

Care Navigation

Our Care Navigators answer the telephones, book appointments, pass triage forms to the medical team and direct you to the most appropriate person to help you

    Tae is one of our Care Navigators and works across both sites. She has recently qualified as a Dispenser and will also be working across both sites in this role.

    Carole is one of our Care Navigators and is based at the front desk at our Tideswell site. She supports patients with their enquiries and helps them to access the appropriate services and support.

    Jo, is our longest serving member of the practice. She is one of our care navigators who works at our Bakewell Site.

    Ann works mainly at the reception desk in Bakewell dispensary but is also a qualified dispenser who dispenses medication and processes new medication requests.

    Lorraine is our qualified Dispenser, based at Tideswell Surgery. She is responsible for dispensing medications and processing repeat prescription requests, helping to ensure patients receive their medication safely and efficiently.
